ASML Dashboard

What is acceptable performance?

  • ASML is a magical melting pot of talent and technological excellence. With their new EUV machines harmonizing 100,000 parts to form an incredibly complex machine, it is crucial to monitor the performance of these parts in order to produce microchips at a desirable rate.

This project concerns a dashboard that monitors a cluster of parts, that form a large and vital component of the EUV machines. The dashboard has a complex web of stakeholders, all responsible on their own for the success of the company. The scope of this project was narrowed down to customer support, to allow them to provide the best service towards customers.

  • There are many KPIs that are relevant to determining the performance of said component. The challenge lies in finding out what KPIs are actually relevant to see in a dashboard, which can be used in the background, or which are not relevant after all.

The second challenge lies in visualizing the data in such a way, that determining an underperforming machine must be done as fast as possible. By creating an optimal flow through dashboard pages, and more importantly providing allowable operating windows within data visualizations, one can optimize this process significantly.

  • The results of this project are significant. By having a complete visual overhaul of all elements, and introducing new ways of navigating the dashboard, many previous pains and stakes have been minimized.

Since each case is unique, not all issues can be resolved through UX design. However, the process of determining the root cause of an issue can be solved up to 60% faster.

Futthermore, trust within the dashboard has increased as there is a uniform approach to accessibility within the dashboard. All iconography, color guides and plots/tables follow the same principles which allows for quicker training and learning, but most importantly understanding.

Coffee2go - princess

A coffeemaker designed for the working class, following retro espresso maker design styling.

According to our user research, 82% of people with a transportation occupation, drink coffee on a regular bases (once a day or more). That’s over 8.5 million people in Europe alone. Furthermore, ranging from 60-80% of commuters travel by car in Europe alone.

Of all those people, 68% of people enjoy a coffee each morning. With such a substantial part of the population, there has been little designed to combine a commute or a transport with coffee. Currently there are 2 alternatives. A) Make coffee at home and put it in a travel mug, or B) get coffee along the way at a gas station or coffeeshop/restaurant. However, due to time constraints these often cost 5 to 20 minutes extra time of your drive. Since you’re in the car anyway, why not make your coffee there?

the lid:

Sealed lid, with weighted hinge. Full seal when closed, keeps heat inside. Hinge can stay at any position, so that it does not move around. This avoids distractions while driving and no lid in your nose.

Slanted sidewall and insides, with rounded bottom edges to minimize inaccessible liquids.

The drinking compartment

Once the coffee has been brewed, it gets collected in the drinking compartment. Designed for easy drinking with rounded edges for a soft touch to the mouth.

Designed to be easily cleaned - also on the move. Bottom can be screwed off for easy rinsing. Sunken coffee grounds can be easily shaken out, and rinsed from the bottom lid if necessary.

Anti-stick material, no need to scrub.

the water compartment

The water compartment can be seen on the opposite side of the lid. With predetermined measuring lines, measuring out how much water you need for an espresso, americano or cappuccino becomes effortless.

Using a bayonet closing system to ensure tight closure.
